Het was op een ochtend we zaten te wachten op de bus en in de verte hoorde ik het nummer comfortably numb van Pink Floyd, en juist met dit nummer op de achtergrond begin ik aan deze enorme klus. Het reisverslag van deze mooie vakantie. een kleine duizend foto's en filmpjes, sorteren en alles op een rij leggen van notities,brochures en links. het zal wel zijn tijd nodig hebben maar uiteindelijk probeer ik hier dan een mooi verslag met foto's neer te zetten..

Met de touringcar van Kupers en Dejongintra tours vertrokken we naar
Rotterdam,Amsterdam en daarna Ijmuiden om onze medereizigers op te pikken, Pas in Newcastle was de groep compleet.
Het ijs brak pas op dag 2, toen we Edinburgh bezochten, Mijn verjaardag de Queen was er, Het was gewoon een mooie dag

with the touringcar of Kupers and Dejongintra tours we went to Rotterdam, Amsterdam and Ijmuiden, and in Newcastle was our group (27) complete. The ice broke only on day 2, when we visited Edinburgh, my birthday ,Even the Queen was there, it was just a beautiful day

Er was veel te doen in Edinburgh de stad leefde echt. Wij besloten gewoon lekker rustig te genieten van het mooie weer,
Die dag werd Prins William geridderd en was zelfs de Queen aanwezig.
We waren naar het kasteel geweest. Het podium was opgebouwd voor de taptoe en mij deed het denken aan het optreden van Mike Oldfield in de jaren 90 ook bij dit kasteel.
Ik vierde die dag mijn verjaardag in het park.
I EDINBURGH
There was much to do in Edinburgh, so much to see, however, we decided to just enjoy the beautiful weather. Prince William was knighted that day and so the Queen was also present that day
We visited the castle ,didn't went inside, but the stage was already built for the military tattoo . reminds me at the concert Mike Oldfield did once by the same castle on the same stage
That day I celebrated my birthday in the park.

Je kunt mooi wandelen in Perth over de spoorlijnbrug via het wandelpad langs de rivier Tay , deed me denken aan de riverpath in Durham. En dan kom je uit in een prachtige tuin, en zo via de Perth Bridge weer terug.
you can nice hiking in Perth over the railway bridge via the walking path along the River Tay, reminded me of the riverpath in Durham. And then you come out in a beautiful garden, and so through the Perth Bridge back again.
DUNROBIN CASTLE
Dunrobin Castle is een vijftiende-eeuws kasteel en de zetel van de clan Sutherland, gelegen nabij Golspie in de regio Highland (Schotland) aan de Noordzee.

Yesnaby ligt in Sandwick, aan de westkust van het vaste land in Orkney
en ten zuiden van Skara Brae. Het staat bekend om haar spectaculaire Old Red Sandstone . Het gebied is populair bij klimmers wegens Yesnaby Castle, een stapel van de twee-legged zee net ten zuiden van de Brough van Bigging. De stack wordt soms beschreven als een kleinere versie van de oude Man van Hoy. Yesnaby is ook een van de weinige plaatsen waar Primula scotica groeit.
Yesnaby is an area in Sandwick, on the west coast of Orkney Mainland, Scotland, south of Skara Brae. It is renowned for its spectacular Old Red Sandstone coastal cliff scenery which includes sea stacks, blowholes, geos and frequently boiling seas. A car park, coastal trail and interpretive panels serve visitors. The area is popular with climbers because of Yesnaby Castle, a two-legged sea stack just south of the Brough of Bigging. The stack is sometimes described as a smaller version of the Old Man of Hoy.[citation needed]Yesnaby is also one of the very few places where Primula scotica grows.

De Ring of Brodgar, ook wel de Ring van Brogar genoemd, gelegen op Mainland (Orkney), behoort samen met Skara Brae, de Stones of Stenness en Maeshowe tot het Neolithische Hart van Orkney, dat sinds 1999 door UNESCO aan de Werelderfgoedlijst is toegevoegd.
De ceremoniële ring en steencirkel wordt gedateerd tussen 2500 en 2000 voor Christus en ligt tussen het Loch of Stenness en het Loch of Harray. Van de oorspronkelijke zestig stenen zijn er nog maar 36 over. De stenen zijn niet versierd, op vijf Noorse runen en een kruis na. De runen vormen een cryptogram met de veel voorkomende naam Bjorn.
Om de cirkel bevindt zich een gracht, die oorspronkelijk 3 meter diep moet zijn geweest. Nabij de henge staat de Comet Stone.

Busta house is blijkbaar het oudste continu bewoonde huis in Shetland de oorspronkelijke bits dateren uit 1588 en heeft het een paar bijzondere verhalen verzameld.
Een korte geschiedenis van Busta House & The Giffords
het oudste deel van het huis werd gebouwd in 1588 door de Giffords, maar zowel huis en familie kreeg pas echt prestige en de rijkdom in de 18e eeuw.
In 1748, waren Thomas Gifford, een rijke landeigenaar en koopman, getrouwd met een ambitieuze vrouw en met 14 kinderen, waaronder 4 zonen, er zeker van dat hun erfgoed veilig in de familie kon blijven. De oudste zoon, John, 30 jaar, moest trouwen en zorgen voor erfgenamen , helaas had hij alleen oog voor zijn zwevende nicht, die in het huis als een metgezel van Lady Gifford woonde. Haar naam was Barbara Pitcairn. De Giffords waren resoluut tegen deze relatie. The earliest part of the house was built in 1588 by the Giffords, but both house and family only really gained prestige and wealth in the 18th century.
In 1748, Thomas Gifford, a wealthy landowner and merchant, married to an ambitious wife and with 14 children, including 4 sons, must have felt his patrimony to be secure. His eldest son, John, aged 30, should by now have been married with heirs of his own, unfortunately he had eyes only for his orphaned cousin, who lived in the house as a companion to Lady Gifford. Her name was Barbara Pitcairn. The Giffords were resolutely against so unsuitable a match for their heir, Lady Gifford going so far as to tell a friend she would rather see John dead at her feet than married to ‘Babbie Pitcairn.’ Alas…
