Lake district july 2011
Begin juli vertrokken we met de Stenalines richting Hoek van Holland naar Harwich, gelijk bij aankomst namen we aldaar een B&B, en de volgende dag reden we ca 6 uurtjes richting noorden naar de Lakes, we verbleven in Windermere.
In early July we went with Stena Lines Hook of Holland to Harwich, upon arrival there we took a B & B, and the next day we drove about six hours north to the Lakes, we stayed in Windermere.
waar ik erg naar uit kijk zijn de historische dingen die hier tenminste nog behouden zijn gebleven, het bevalt me erg aan de UK en Ierland, dat tenminste hun geschiedenis bewaart blijft in Nederland zie ik dat niet zoveel..helaas..
achteraf gezien en tot onze grote verbazing hebben we goed weer gehad..we kwamen met regen en gingen met regen, en tussen in hebben we echt met het weer geboft, zelfs 1 week lang is geen regen gevallen daar, alleen maar zon..de andere dagen wisselden zich af met zon en regen, daarna dan die felle kleuren in dat landschap is gewoon adembenemend .
I'm really looking forward to see the historical things that are at least still preserved, I really like the UK and Ireland about that at least their history conserves in the Netherlands, I see that not much .. sadly .. but we still have the hunebedden
hindsight and to our surprise, we had good weather .. we came and went with rain, but in between we really lucky with the weather, even 1 week there was no rain, only the Sun .. other days are alternated with sun and rain, then those bright colors in this landscape is simply breathtaking.
Wanneer je aankomt dan is het altijd leuk om in folders te kijken wat zoal te beleven is op je vakantiebestemming en wanneer je van geschiedenis houdt kom je hier wel aan het smullen, zo viel me gelijk het vikingskruis op, dat zomaar op het kerkhof van Gosforth staat, in de Mary's church staan dan nog 2 grafstenen en nog een kruis uit de vikingtijd.
When you arrive it's always nice to check out some folders to see what kinds of things to do on your holiday and when you are a history lover like me you come here or to the feast, so I notice the Viking cross, that just stay in the cemetery of Gosforth , in Mary's church are still two hogbacks and a cross from the Viking time.
vervolgens zijn we doorgereden naar de kust, en kwamen bij het plaatsje Seascale, de lichtval was geweldig en ik kon weer geen foto's genoeg maken
Then we drove to the coast, and arrived at the village of Seascale, the fell of light where great and I could not make enough pictures.

mooie plaatjes uit de omgeving. vergeet niet eens via de passen te rijden, zoals de Hartknottpass,wrynosepass en de kirkstonepass
pretty pictures from the area. don't forget driving through the passes, such as the Heart Knott Pass, and the Kirkstone Pass wrynosepass

Stan Laurel is born here on 16 june 1890.When he was 6 he moved to the USA,but he came often back in holidays to vist his granparents.
Het is zeker de moeite waard om aldaar een bezoekje te brengen, er is zelfs een route door het historische marktplaatsje uitgestippeld daar waar Stanley vroeger geregeld kwam en winkeltjes die hij met zijn oma bezocht.
breng ook een bezoekje aan het museum dat is zoooo de moeite waard

Ik hou erg veel van dat soort dingen de historie terug vinden, zoiets is bij ons in Nederland allemaal weg, alleen nog maar in museums te vinden, en dat vind ik jammer, daarom kom ik graag naar de UK ,daar vind ik vaak dingen terug die ik in ons kikkerlandje gewoon mis. gelukkig hebben wij dan toch nog de hunebedden..toch niet alles weg..
bv de gezellige ouderwetse kruidenierswinkeltjes waar we in een gehucht zelfs geholpen werden door een vrouw met snor..dat vind ik mooi dat knusse ouderwetse
I like a lot of things like the history to discover such thing we don't have here in the Netherlands not much anymore. , it's only to be found in museums, which I find unfortunate, that's why I like the UK, where I often find things back which I just miss in our little country. Fortunately we still have the hunebedden .. so not not all gone ..
